Everything You Need to Know About Your Woolfi Slippers
Choosing the right pair of slippers is an investment in everyday comfort, so it's natural to have questions.
Below are the questions we're asked most often by customers before and after purchasing. If you can't find what you're looking for, our team is always happy to help.
Do Woolfi slippers stretch?
This is our most frequently asked question.
The short answer is no—not in length.
Natural New Zealand wool behaves differently from many other materials. Rather than stretching longer, the wool gently moulds around the shape of your feet with wear.
When you first try your slippers on, they should feel snug rather than loose. This allows the wool to settle naturally around your feet over the first few weeks of wear, creating a personalised fit.
If your toes are pressing firmly against the end of the slipper, they're likely too small. If your feet move around freely or lift significantly when walking, they may be too large.
A snug fit on day one usually becomes the perfect fit over time.
How should my slippers fit when they arrive?
Your slippers should feel comfortably snug.
Many customers are surprised because they expect slippers to feel loose straight away. Unlike synthetic footwear, natural wool softens and adapts as you wear it.
When trying them on for the first time:
✔ Your heel should sit securely in the slipper.
✔ Your foot should not slide around.
✔ The wool should gently hug your foot.
✔ Your toes should have enough room without feeling cramped.
As the wool settles, you'll notice the slippers becoming even more comfortable while maintaining their shape.
If you're between sizes, our sizing guide can help you choose the best fit, or our team is always happy to provide personalised advice.
What should I expect when my slippers arrive?
Every pair is crafted from natural New Zealand wool, so no two pairs are exactly the same.
Because they're made from natural materials and handcrafted, you may notice slight variations in colour, texture, or finish between pairs. These small differences are part of what makes each pair unique.
When you first wear your slippers, the wool will begin to soften and gradually mould to your feet. This is completely normal and one of the reasons natural wool feels so comfortable over time.
My slippers are shedding. Is this normal?
Yes.
When your slippers are new, you may notice a small amount of loose wool fibres inside the slipper or on your socks during the first few wears.
This is simply excess fibre from the natural felting process working its way free and is completely normal.
The shedding will settle naturally with regular wear.
If needed, you can gently remove any loose fibres by hand or lightly vacuum the inside of the slipper.
This won't affect the quality, durability, or lifespan of your slippers.
Do Woolfi slippers have arch support?
Our slippers are designed to provide natural comfort rather than structured orthotic support.
The felted wool creates a soft, supportive surface that gradually moulds to the shape of your feet, offering a comfortable and balanced feel for everyday wear.
Many customers find this natural cushioning ideal for relaxing at home.
If you require significant medical or orthotic arch support, you may wish to use your own orthotic insole if it fits comfortably within the slipper.
You can also purchase an insole for additional comfort underfoot here. We recommend adding one of these every 6 months for daily wear or every new winter season for seasonal wearers.
Can I wear my Woolfi slippers outside?
This depends on the sole you've chosen.
Rubber Sole
Our natural rubber sole is designed for everyday indoor living with the flexibility for light outdoor use.
Perfect for:
- Walking to the letterbox
- Stepping onto the deck
- Watering the garden
- Collecting the newspaper

They're not intended to replace everyday outdoor shoes.
Suede Sole
Our suede sole is designed for indoor use only.
It performs beautifully on carpet and around the home but may become slippery on smooth or wet surfaces.

Will my feet get hot?
Natural New Zealand wool regulates temperature remarkably well.
Rather than trapping heat, wool allows excess warmth and moisture vapour to escape, helping your feet stay comfortable throughout the day.
Many customers are surprised by how breathable wool feels compared with synthetic slippers.
Will my slippers smell over time?
One of the remarkable qualities of natural wool is its ability to help manage moisture and reduce odour build-up.
Simply airing your slippers regularly is often all that's needed to keep them feeling fresh.
How do I care for my slippers?
Natural wool is wonderfully low-maintenance.
We recommend:
- Spot cleaning with a damp cloth if needed.
- Using a mild wool-safe detergent for marks.
- Air drying naturally away from direct heat.
- Avoiding the washing machine and tumble dryer.
